Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please find info below to assist you with the week ahead. Next week we will be organizing Pink Shirt Day on Feb. 28.

Senior Night – Feb. 27

Come support our Senior Boys Basketball team for Senior night Tuesday February 27, as they take on the JCS Ravens for the final home game of the regular season. Grade 12 athletes will be starting, acknowledged, and celebrated for their potential final home game at E.P Scarlett High School. Go Lancers Go!  Only those with identification from either JCS or Scarlett will be allowed in and families from the 2 schools.

Music Update

Our instrumental musicians are right in the thick on preparing and performing at the Alberta International Band festival this past week (Gr. 10 Concert Band) and into next (Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble). Our Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 Bands will be competing at the festival March 5 (3:00 PM – 6:00 PM) and March 7 (12:30 PM – 3:30 PM) respectively.

Choir has been hard at work preparing for Winds From the South showcase concert set for Monday, March 5. Tickets are available and will include performances by all of our concert bands, our choir, in addition to a number of musical ensembles from select schools that feed into Scarlett.

We are looking to have video footage taken of our ensembles with the intent to create a promotional video for our music program here at Scarlett. If you know of anyone that might be able to provide high quality content, we’d be grateful. Please email jibell@cbe.ab.ca for further details.

Thanks in advance for your support, we are looking forward to celebrating another amazing night of music!

Grade 12 Families

All Grade 12 Students must complete a form to participate in the School Closing Exercises (sometimes referred to as the Grad Ceremonies). The form along with the grad fee is due by March 1. Thank you everyone! Ms. Chaudhry snchaudhry@cbe.ab.ca

Pink Shirt Day is Feb. 28

Students are encouraged to wear pink in support of anti-bullying. There will be 250 pink clothes pins with messages of kindness in the front foyer, in which students can take and clip to another persons belongings to spread good vibes! The first Pink Shirt Day was established by Travis Price and David Shepherd of Berwick, Nova Scotia. In 2007, they bought and shared 50 pink shirts after Chuck McNeill - a male ninth grader got bullied for wearing a pink shirt on the first day of school. We invite students and staff to wear a pink shirt to school on February 28 to raise awareness around the damaging effects of bullying.
