Practice Lockdown

In the morning of Wed. Oct 30, we will hold a practice lockdown with various members of the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Practicing emergency procedures prepares all persons within a school building to take the appropriate action in the event of an emergency. It is an expectation from the school board that we practice twice a year so that our emergency procedures practices align with current legislation.

Athletic Update

We have had an exciting week in school sports. Our Cross-Country athletes participated in Provincials last weekend. Congratulations to all of our athletes who braved some very cold and wet conditions that involved a lot of slipping and sliding down the course! Congratulations to Kristen N who placed fourth for Sr. Girls and Gerrit K who placed tenth for Sr. Boys. These are amazing results for the entire province of runners. Thanks to all those who participated and Mr. Stock for accompanying them and cheering them on in Grande Prairie.

Our Senior Football Team had a major victory in Quarter Finals against Bowness this week. We are up next on Nov. 1, against Beaverbrook. Our Junior Football Team also won the Quarter Finals and are now up against Bowness for the Semi Finals on Oct 30. Come out and cheer on your LAMS! Go LAMs Go!

Message from Parents

We cannot run the casino without our dedicated volunteers. Looking for volunteers! Learn more.

This is a great way to bring in funds for our school and we often raise around $65,000 or more. We require volunteers at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino for Tuesday November 12 and Wednesday November 13 for daytime and evening shifts. You will receive all the training you need when you arrive and you will find volunteering at the casino both fun and rewarding. Day shifts are between 10am-7pm, evening shifts are between 6:45 pm and 3:45 am or 11 pm and 3:45 am (count room positions only). You can sign up for multiple shifts, but they have to be the same position; you cannot be banker one day and chip runner another, but you could be banker both days.

Timelines are tight and anyone who works in the casino must be cleared by AGLC first.

Sign Up! Any required paperwork will be sent to you to fill out. If you have any questions, please contact epscasino@gmail.com

Healthy Hunger

This is an optional service for families and the decision to participate is up to each family. We have not reviewed the health standards at each restaurant, so we encourage families to make an informed choice.

To participate in fun lunches, create an account at www.healthyhunger.ca to register. You will be notified when new lunches are posted and be able to view up-coming lunches, place orders and pay for orders online.

If you are able to help out with the distribution of Healthy Hunger lunches. Sign Up!

**Please note all volunteers must have a valid police background check and a completed annual CBE volunteer registration form.**

Hope you have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Carma Cornea
